Welcome to GGDD19

The 4th edition of the Global Green Destinations Days GGDD19 took place from Oct 8 to Oct 12, 2019, in Croatia. 

This yearly event brought together leading sustainability experts in government, business, and academia in a set of workshops, peer-to-peer learning, field trips, in-depth sessions, and panel discussions.

GGDD19: Green Solutions in Tourism

This year, the main theme is ‘Green Solutions for Destinations’. Destinations and businesses were invited to propose their good practices stories on the following themes:

  • Spreading tourism over space and time 
    • managing hotspots
    • developing new ‘green destinations’
  • Tourism to support local communities, culture & tradition
  • Tourism to support nature and biodiversity
  • Marketing a sustainable destination
  • Facing the carbon & climate challenge in tourism, incl. soft mobility
  • Water & waste management and how to reduce the use of plastics

A panel of experts

This year’s event will bring together selected destination leaders representing globally important tourism destinations. A unique opportunity to learn from specialists in the field, peer-to-peer learning, and to discover practical tools and solutions in sustainability issues.

Destination: Croatia

This year’s GGDD will be held in two cities: Zagreb, the capital of Croatia and Mali Lošinj, one of our Top 100 Destinations located in the Kvarner region.
